The Alice Guy-Blaché flip book is part of the Pioneers collection from Spanish flip book experts, Flipboku. A tribute to the pioneers of early filmmaking, this is one of ten "cinemagic" flip books, each triggering 6 different animations depending on the position of your thumb!

Alice Guy-Blaché (1873 – 1968) was a pioneer French filmmaker and the first motion picture director to make a narrative fiction film, active from the late 19th century. Neglected by film historians for years, she was the first woman to direct a film. From 1896 to 1920, she directed over 1,000 films, some 150 of which survive, and 22 of which are feature-length. She experimented with Gaumont’s Chronophone sync-sound system, colour tinting, interracial casting and special effects. The flip book comes with an Augmented Reality feature, that you can visualise when scanning the front cover with your smartphone or tablet: a 3 minutes mini-documentary about Guy-Blaché's life, her background and her most outstanding work.
