Lovingly crafted in Israel by Roy Cohen. These exquisite handmade brass Kaleidoscopes are made using techniques originating from the invention of the kaleidoscope in 1817. One end consists of two mirrors and a closed section containing glass shards, beads and other reflective objects, which move and drop within the void when the barrel is turned. The result is at every moment a beautiful image is created by light entering from the side.
Two different shaped and coloured wheels are positioned opposite the set of mirrors, and by turning the wheels infinite new reflective images are created. For the best results use this under sun or house lights to see optimal reflections. Each Kaleidoscope can be displayed with the brass stand which accompanies it.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER ROY COHEN
Roy Cohen has been making Kaleidoscopes from his studio in Southern Israel for the last 30 years. Since childhood he has been fascinated with bold colds and gemoetric patterns. As an adult he became a photographer and studied architecture and learnt how to depth how to use mirrors, reflections and light in design.
A short time after, on his first attempt to create a kaleidoscope he realised that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of my life. This was the starting point of my career, and my mission became to make sure that others would be able to share and experience this beauty.
