Made in the USA, each 5cm cube contains a sample of the highest possible purity (Bismuth 99%, Gold and Carbon are 99.995%). Choose from Carbon, Gold or our favourite - Bismuth. All suspended in crystal clear lucite acrylic.

Bismuth is a dense metal with about 86% the density of lead. The symbol for bismuth is Bi. It has an atomic weight of 208.9804 and its atomic number is 83. The iridescent colours that are seen on the surface of the crystals are formed during oxidation along with its crystal formations.

Bismuth is one of the first 10 elements ever to be discovered. It was originally believed to be stable, but in 2003 it was discovered to be slightly radioactive with a half-life more than a billion times the age of the universe. This means that its radioactivity is negligible. Bismuth compounds are used to make cosmetics pigments and pharmaceuticals such as Pepto Bismol.
