Pocket Brass Kaleidoscope

Lovingly crafted by hand in Israel by Roy Cohen using techniques originating from the invention of the kaleidoscope in 1817.

One end consists of two mirrors and a closed section containing glass shards, beads and other reflective objects, which move and drop within the void when the barrel is turned.

The result is at every moment a beautiful image is created by light entering from the side. The view from each piece is unique and will vary from the photos shown. Each 5cm Kaleidoscope arrives complete with a brass chain.

Roy Cohen has been making Kaleidoscopes from his studio in Southern Israel for the last 30 years. Since childhood he has been fascinated with bold colds and gemoetric patterns. As an adult he became a photographer and studied architecture and learnt how to depth how to use mirrors, reflections and light in design.A short time after, on his first attempt to create a kaleidoscope he realised that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of my life. This was the starting point of my career, and my mission became to make sure that others would be able to share and experience this beauty.
