DIY Comet Kaleidoscope Kit

This is a handmade kaleidoscope kit for created for adults by Japanese artist Koji Yamami.

A completely original kit using the same type of body parts and mirror system as Koji Yamami's popular work "Comet".

The kaleidoscope image will be different depending on which glass pieces are put in and in what order, so you will be creating your very own unique kaleidoscope. Once completed, the approximate size is 10cm. 

Each DIY kit includes the body, mirror and lens. Also included are various glass pieces for you to customise your views. Assembly instructions are included, but your own adhesive for attaching the metal and scissors will be needed.

Please note that the Comet kit is created by Mr. Yamami himself, selecting glass parts based on meticulous calculations. Each kaleidoscope view will be unique based on the pieces you choose and what order!

KOJI YAMAMI

Koji Yamami is an award-winning Japanese kaleidoscope artist and maker who studied art and design at Santa Monica College in California in the 1980s. Inspired by a stained glass kaleidoscope at a gallery, he recalled his studies in stained glass in Japan and began handcrafting kaleidoscopes upon returning to Tokyo. Koji's kaleidoscopes are relatively large scale, brilliantly coloured structures pieced together with stained glass. They are usually inspired by figurative and natural motifs. The inner view presents colourful, ever-changing and mysterious images. Actively promoting kaleidoscopes globally, Koji also teaches kaleidoscope design in his stained glass studio. His mission is to inspire and surprise people by pioneering new artistic technologies and promoting kaleidoscopes worldwide.
