Five Wood Cube Puzzle Box

Handmade in Japan by Hiroyuki Oka. The Himitsu Bako (秘密箱) is a traditional Japanese puzzle box designed to hide small items through a series of sliding panels.

This box is a seemingly ordinary 12-step Japanese puzzle box with an unusual solution made with a lovely mix of five woods: Walnut, Nyatoh, Urushi, Purple-heart and Mizuki.

HIROYUKI OKA

Over 30 years ago Hiroyuki Oka was an apprentice with the expert craftsmen in the Hakone mountains.

Hiroyuki has since been working independently since 2003 and produces his own beautiful himitsu bako pieces of puzzle art.
